          Heathrow airport - Check in times      

           It is advised to check in as early as possible using the guide below:

• Long-haul flights – three hours prior to departure (Including El Al passengers).

• European flights – two hours before departure.

• UK and Ireland flights – 90 minutes prior to departure.

  These times can be relaxed a little especially for early morning transfers and passengers with hand luggage only !

  New cabin baggage rules - check with your airline before you fly.

  At Heathrow Airport passengers may now carry more than one item of hand baggage through security. But you should check hand baggage allowances with your airline before arriving at the airport, as the weight and size of hand baggage allowances differ between airlines. Some airlines may allow you to carry one item only. Whatever the number of items, each must be no larger than 56cm (22in) tall, 45cm wide(17.7in) and 25cm (10in) deep. (22x17.5x9.85in) (including wheels, pockets and handles). In addition, one laptop sized bag, handbag or briefcase. A 23kg(51lbs) maximum bag weight applies and you must be able to lift the bag into the overhead lockers in the aircraft cabin unaided. Note. Cabin crew will assist customers with additional needs. For all other UK airports you are advised to check with the operating airline as the hand baggage allowance may vary.

 

Restrictions on the quantity of liquids allowed

You must ensure that all liquid containers do not exceed 100ml and are carried in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag no bigger than 20cm x 20cm (8 x 8 inches) that can be easily closed.

Which terminal ?

There are now five terminals and over 80 airlines operating from Heathrow airport at the moment and around 50 of them will be moving terminal between 2008 and 2009 - please check your ticket and with your travel agent to confirm which terminal you will be arriving at or departing from.

Travelling time to and from Oxford and Heathrow airport

The average journey time between Oxford and Heathrow airport is one hour - however this does not include any delays caused by high volume road traffic congestion such as - road works - traffic accidents - or adverse weather conditions. We would therefore advise passengers to allow at least 30 minutes extra travelling time and to adhere to the check in times advised by Heathrow airport. To date not one Heathrow Flyer passenger travelling with us has ever missed a flight whilst adopting our own advice and the airport advised check in times.
